Review: MacAlly iPhone Screen Protector Gets Two Thumbs Down

Over the weekend I stoped by Microcenter to pick up some new keyboards for the Boka office. While browsing around I found a nifty screen protector for my iPhone 3G (not s). I saw a buddy of mine had the same one a week before, and I kinda liked it on his phone. Grass is always greener right?
So $9.99 later I was a proud owener of a brand new mirror screen protector, and after a few tries to apply it on my phone without air or spec bubles, I was good to go.
My first reaction was that it made the screen look more colorful while the phone was on, and I could see my mug while it was in lock mode. Which is great if you are a girl, but not very useful when you dont need to put on the makeup.
Ok, minor detail, I guess I was still avoiding buyers remorse. On my way to work, I decided to check my email while walking to the car, and I took a quick glance at the screen. Couldnt see a thing. With the sun out, and blue skyes above me, I even had trouble unlocking the phone. What's the point of protecting a screen that you cant even see unless its after dinner time.
So in conclusion, if you want to save a few bucks, leave the MacAlley Mirror Screen Protector hanging on the shelf, but if you feel like spending ten bucks for a nice mirror then by all means waste away.
Staples Hates Firefox

Boka designs needs to find a good partner to print out business cards (and other graphic printing needs). My first stop was Staples, because after all, 'that was easy'. Well its all good when you want to use their lame template designs, and if you live in 1994. But these days your business needs to stand out from any other, be unique, be special.
I'm leaving alone the fact that there is no easy way to upload a custom card design. I'm not going to let that grind my gears. But after searching for about half an hour I finally figured out that if you take a blank template design, you can then upload an image from there. Ok, got that, 30 minutes down, moving on... Once you upload the design, there are specifications for the file size and bleed area, great just what I was looking for. So I thought to myself, once I get home, I will upload my previously created custom card, pick up the cards and be on the way. Not so much.
I know I'm not the only person out there who uses Firefox for my web browsing needs, and these statistics prove that point. But when I logged on to the site again, imagine my surprise when I saw the error on the screen (pictured above). So why in the world wouldn't a very large and successful company like Staples hire a few developers to accomodate the masses and bring in more business. Don't they want my money?
I guess I will try to answer that question while driving to FedEx Office to pick up the new cards for my client.
Showtime EMRHL Champs

Well its been a little too long since I was able to win one, but here it is. Showtime were the hottest team thruout the year and had a great playoff run to take the fall season title. After breezing thru round one (4-1 win) and two (6-3 win), the team faced some adversity. We actually trailed a few times in the finals but found a way to pull out an 8-6 victory. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this stacked team, it was a lot of fun, and thanks Dave for not downgrading us.
Arch Enemy - The Root of All Evil

I always thought to myself that bands should re-record songs once they get big. Weather its their own songs or some classics like Deep Purple's "Child in Time" or Uriah Heep's "July Morning" a new sound could change the whole feel of a song. With "The Root of All Evil", Arch Enemy did just that, re-recording their past songs with the new lineup and a new sound. Even tho I couldn't stand the old style of singing of Johan Liiva, I'm still undecided if I like this updated sound. I sorta got usedto hearing his terrible vocals, and now when Angela screams in every song, it does not have the same feel. So the jury is still out, need to hear it a few more times in my car full blast, and I'll let you know.
Site Was Down

Site was down, but its now up! Just had way too much stuff on my hands and on my mind. I'm still trying to get away from HTML and convert the site into wordpress. So a bunch of updates are going to keep me busy.
